The year I turned age fifteen things really started to pick up speed in terms of my mental disorder and or paranormal experiences. I woke up one day feeling distinctly different, though I could not understand why. I heard thoughts in my head that I swear were not mine and would tell me what to do. I began to have flashbacks of being burned at the stake, only these memories were not mine or even from the same era, I suspected.

When I experienced the flashback of being burned alive I actually felt as if I was burning, and became very sick. When I went to the cafeteria to eat I had no motivation to eat anything except meat and potatoes. It was not a bad dietary choice, it’s just that it’s not like me, Asian and Italian food are my favorites normally but at the time I didn’t like these foods anymore.

It didn’t take long for the flashbacks and foreign thoughts to increase and constantly haunt me day and night. I even had crazy dreams yet again of being burned, only they kept me up at night, and I had no way of knowing how to get rid of them. To top it all off soon after that I had been diagnosed with walking pneumonia, due to the vog on the Big Island where I went to boarding school. Soon I began having fever dreams, waking up in a cold sweat from the hauntings.

Eventually I pursued the psychic on my home island of Kauai, asking once again for an exorcism, only this time it was going to be performed on me. With candles lit and special crystals arranged just right the psychic worked her magic once again. We were in a room through which you had to enter using a very heavy wooden door. Once again the weather changed drastically and started to storm and bring heavy rainfall. Immediately upon finishing the exorcism a wind blew through the room, putting out candles and causing the heavy door to slam shut. She and I exchanged nervous glances and she told me she had never seen anything like that happen before. There was no wind before that.

That’s when I found out that the woman who had possessed me was a troubled soul who lived a very difficult life and was burned at the stake as a heretic. I thought originally that she was German, being that I am half German, quarter English and quarter Japanese. Turns out she was Russian. I have Russian and Korean lineage as well, but I wasn’t expecting this, especially considering that it was only a very small fraction of my bloodline.

Not too long after that I had what they call continuing dreams, where over a span of time you have multiple dreams that are all linked together and related. It took about a week to finish this dream, which took place in feudal Japan. There was a Russian woman who had been enslaved by Genghis Khan, and was being kept in a tent while he was away at battle. She felt trapped and miserable and contemplated suicide.

There was a battle between the Mongolians and the Japanese. That’s when the general of the samurai army entered the tent where the Russian woman was kept. He instantly fell in love with her and rescued her and together they retreated into a deep valley in Japan where the general built a tea house and farmed. After the Japanese won the war they decided that they wanted to lead peaceful lives, and so it was there they remained until the end of their days.

I had always had a fascination with Asian culture in general, and when I saw that an elective became available at my community college titled Chinese History 101, I decided to take the class. I would have loved to take a Japanese History class as well but they didn’t have one. I was nineteen and I studied very hard and asked a lot of questions. One of the other reasons I decided to join Chinese History was because in ancient times China was quite advanced compared to many other civilizations at the time, and finding this fascinating I figured why not take the class.

One of those days I pulled the teacher aside after class and asked him about something that wasn’t even on our syllabus but I had to find answers. I said, “Did the Mongolians ever fight the Japanese?” He was astounded at my question and said, “Actually, few people know this but yes, it is true they did. The little known battle was called the Great Win which occurred during the Mongolian invasions of Japan in 1274 and 1281.” He explained that the Japanese drove the Mongolians out of their country and won the war.

These experiences have shaped my life and have made me stronger in many ways. I am fortunate to have been able to see these hallucinations because it is part of who I am. I have learned a lot from it, though these things that I have seen were scary at times, I feel as if it has prepared me for the more positive visions that I have today. Since becoming a Christ believer I know that with God anything is possible, and so I am empowered and blessed and now have visions from Him as well. I realize now you cannot have the light without the darkness and I simply try to find a balance between my paranormal experiences and spiritual ones.
